Netto's overnight parking scheme tackles Wiesbaden's traffic woes
Netto Marken-Discount has launched a new scheme to help ease parking problems in Wiesbaden. The supermarket chain is now allowing local residents to book its car park spaces overnight. The move aims to cut down on traffic and make better use of existing areas. The initiative lets residents reserve parking spots at the Netto branch on Dotzheimer Straße 162. Bookings can be made digitally between 6 PM and 8 AM. During the day, shoppers still get free parking for up to 90 minutes.
Netto describes the project as a 'service for the neighbourhood'. The company highlights its sustainability, as it repurposes spaces that would otherwise sit empty. The number of evening spots can also be adjusted based on demand. The programme could bring wider benefits too. By reducing the need for drivers to circle for parking, it may lower noise, emissions, and stress in busy areas.
The scheme offers a practical solution for residents struggling with limited parking. It also maximises the use of Netto’s existing facilities without disrupting daytime customers. If successful, similar projects could follow in other crowded urban areas.
