Boisheim plants 101 trees to celebrate state competition victory

Boisheim has celebrated its recent victory in the 2025 state competition Our Village Has a Future with a new green initiative. The Citizens’ Association launched 101 Trees for Boisheim to mark the achievement, planting the first three trees this month. The project follows months of planning and a €16,000 donation approved by local authorities in March. The initiative began after Boisheim secured the gold medal in the state contest and qualified for the 2026 national finals. In response, the Citizens’ Association proposed planting mature trees across the village. They requested permission to use municipal land, selecting ten sites for the new greenery.

The Main and Finance Committee greenlit the project in early March, accepting a donation worth around €16,000. The town agreed to fund transport, planting, and anchoring—allocating roughly €3,300 for these tasks. On planting day, Baum & Bonheur Nursery moved the first three trees from their Boisheim site to Dorfer Feld and Brüggener Straße using specialised equipment. During the first year, the association will manage watering. After that, the town will take over maintenance and ensure traffic safety around the new trees.

Mayor Christoph Hopp highlighted the project’s benefits, noting it would improve the village’s appearance and residents’ quality of life. The trees are also expected to enhance the local microclimate. With the first phase complete, the initiative will continue planting across Boisheim in the coming months.
