Speed-Dating Hiring Events Tackle Social Care Staff Shortages in Meerbusch

A recruitment campaign aimed at tackling staff shortages in social care is expanding to Meerbusch. The Evangelische Stiftung Hephata, which supports people with disabilities, mental health conditions, and social disadvantages, is running the initiative. Speed-dating events will now take place in two residential facilities, offering a direct way for jobseekers to meet residents and staff. The campaign, titled youmakemeststrong.de, first launched last year to fill roles at a new facility. It proved successful, allowing residents to move in after new employees were hired. This time, the focus is on recruiting professionals in education, nursing, and social work.

The events will be held in the shared living spaces of those who need support. In Bäderich, sessions run on May 26, 28, and 30. In Meerbusch-Bovert, they take place on May 27, 28, and 30. Potential candidates can also find details about working at Hephata on the campaign’s website. Promotion includes flyers, posters, and social media videos featuring residents sharing their hopes for new staff. Marion Siems, Head of Communications for the foundation, highlighted the approach as a model for creative hiring in the social sector. The organisation faces ongoing challenges due to a shortage of skilled workers.

The expanded campaign offers a hands-on way to connect jobseekers with residents in need of care. By hosting events in living spaces, Hephata aims to build stronger relationships between staff and those they support. Further details are available at youmakemeststrong.de.
