Burien's Arts-A-Glow festival calls for illuminated art proposals by July 6
Downtown Burien will light up again this autumn for the 19th annual Arts-A-Glow festival. The free event, hosted by the City of Burien, returns on Saturday, September 12, from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Organisers are now calling for artists to submit proposals for illuminated artworks and installations. The festival will turn the city centre into an outdoor arts space filled with light. Visitors can expect projection mapping on buildings, interactive light-art installations, roving performers, and hands-on activities. This year’s theme builds on past success, offering both new and returning features.
Artists have until 8 p.m. on July 6 to apply. Submissions must be made through the festival’s online portal, available via the Arts-A-Glow artist call website. Organisers welcome proposals for temporary illuminated works, whether brand new or previously exhibited. They particularly encourage creative ideas involving light, projection, and interactive elements. Selected artworks will be showcased during the September 12 event. The festival aims to highlight both emerging and established artists working with light-based media. Successful applicants will have their pieces displayed alongside performances and community activities.
The deadline for artist applications is July 6 at 8 p.m. Chosen works will become part of the festival’s glowing lineup, transforming downtown Burien for one evening. The event remains free to attend, with no ticket required for visitors.
