On the right side of the image, there are bags and other objects placed on the ground, and on the left side there is a board with some text on it. In the background, there is fencing, poles, street lights, electric poles with wires, trees, buildings, hills and the sky, suggesting that the children are participating in a program to help children with disabilities.

Münster's Lifesavers Are Coming! Teaches Kids Emergency Skills Through Play

A new event called The Lifesavers Are Coming! will bring emergency response teams to Münster’s Cathedral Square this week. Aimed at young children from daycare and schools, the event will teach safety skills through interactive activities. Organisers hope to make learning about emergencies engaging and stress-free for kids. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Cathedral Square. Participating organisations include THW, Maltesers, St. John Ambulance, ASB, Münster Fire Department, and the Bundeswehr. Each group will offer hands-on activities designed for children.

Daycare and primary school groups must register in advance via the official website. On-site, kids can visit a Teddy Bear Clinic, practise filling sandbags, and explore Emergency Preparedness in a Box. They will also meet responders and learn basic safety rules in a playful setting.

The goal is to reduce children’s fears around emergencies while teaching them how to react. By introducing hazards and protective measures early, organisers aim to build confidence in young visitors. The event provides a chance for children to interact with emergency teams in a relaxed environment. Through games and demonstrations, they will gain practical knowledge about staying safe. Registration details for groups are available online.
