Kirna Manor Tulip Festival blooms again after last year's setbacks
The Kirna Manor Tulip Festival is set to return this spring with a vibrant display of colour. Known as 'Estonia’s own Holland,' the event will feature around 150 tulip varieties. Preparations have been underway for months to ensure a spectacular show after last year’s weather-related setbacks. Last autumn, volunteers planted 100,000 tulip bulbs across the manor’s flowerbeds. The effort followed extensive replanting and soil improvements after heavy rain damaged many plants in 2023. Owner Tuuli Org clarified that wet conditions—not cold—were to blame for last year’s losses.
The festival officially opens on May 9. Currently, only 20-30 percent of the tulips are in bloom, but organisers expect rapid progress. At its peak, the event will showcase tens of thousands of flowers in full colour. Visitors can look forward to refreshed displays, with many bulbs reaching their prime in the coming weeks. The manor’s team has worked to restore the gardens, ensuring this year’s festival lives up to its reputation.
The festival’s return marks a fresh start after last year’s challenges. With improved soil conditions and careful replanting, the gardens are poised for a strong season. Organisers anticipate a full, vibrant bloom that will draw crowds throughout May.
