Kazakhstan's Türkistan Mamandary Crowns New Champions of Traditional Art
The republican contest of traditional performing arts, Türkistan Mamandary, concluded at the Otar District Palace of Culture. The event showcased Kazakhstan’s finest termechi (traditional singers) and zhyrau (bardic poets) from across the country. Its goal was to strengthen national identity and promote traditional art among young performers. The competition brought together talented artists to revive forgotten works and support emerging voices. Performances celebrated Kazakh history, moral values, and the national spirit.
Kuanysh Algaziyev from Kyzylorda Region secured first place. The Grand Prix went to Yernur Les from Turkistan Region. Second place was shared by Nurali Yeskhat (Jetisu Region) and Yessimkhan Zasulan (Akmola Region). Third-place honours were awarded to Syrsunqar Bazarbayuly (Kyzylorda), Bazarbay Azamat (Pavlodar), and Satybaldy Magzhan (Turkistan). Organisers highlighted the contest’s role in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and raising the status of terme in modern society.
The event successfully showcased Kazakhstan’s rich artistic traditions. Winners were recognised for their skill in preserving and promoting the country’s cultural legacy. Their performances will now inspire future generations of traditional artists.
