Free compost and gardening tips at Solingen's eco-friendly event

An information day on composting and sustainable gardening will take place on Saturday, May 30, at the Bärenloch Waste Management Center in Solingen. Organised by the Solingen Consumer Advice Center, the event will offer tips on home composting, green waste disposal, and eco-friendly gardening practices. The event runs from 8:00 AM to 12:15 PM, with activities for all visitors. Staff from Solingen Municipal Services will be on hand to answer questions about green waste containers and organic waste bins. A quiz on composting and the environment will also be held, with a small surprise for participants.

The Bärenloch Waste Management Center produces green waste compost from Solingen’s organic waste. This locally made product is used in gardening items like 'Blütezeit' and 'Querbeet'. Visitors can take home free compost (0–20 mm grain size) if they bring their own containers. Pre-packaged compost and bark mulch will be sold at discounted prices during the event. A Garden Café will serve coffee, tea, and cookies, adding a relaxed touch to the day.

The event aims to promote sustainable practices by offering practical advice and free resources. Attendees will leave with knowledge on composting, discounted products, and even a sample of locally produced compost.
