David Beckham's Signature Rose Wins Gold at Chelsea Flower Show
A new rose named in honour of Sir David Beckham has won a gold award at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. The Sir David Beckham Rose features delicate white petals with soft pink, yellow, and gold accents. Its creation was inspired by the footballer’s love for gardening and family time outdoors. Development of the rose began in May 2023, marking Sir David Beckham’s 50th birthday. The project aimed to craft a shrub rose that would thrive for years, growing alongside families. Harper Beckham, his daughter, specifically requested that the bloom reflect her father’s passion for the British countryside and their shared moments in the garden.
The rose carries a fresh, complex fragrance, blending notes of banana, honey, and nougat with hints of clove and myrrh. Its design was intended to be enduring, mirroring the bond between generations. Beckham has previously spoken about how gardening unites people and brings joy across all ages. Last year, he met King Charles while wearing the *King’s Rose* at a public event. Now, his own named rose will support charity—£2.50 from each sale will go to *The King’s Foundation*.
The Sir David Beckham Rose has already earned recognition with a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show. Proceeds from its sales will contribute to charitable work through The King’s Foundation. The flower’s design and purpose celebrate both family connections and the beauty of British gardening.
