The image shows a group of children sitting on the ground in front of a building with windows and a door. On the left side of the image, there is a board with some text on it placed on a stand. In the background, there are some children standing beside a fence, some chairs, a table covered with a yellow cloth, some plants in pots, a banner with some pictures and text on the wall, and some ceiling lights to a roof. The children appear to be participating in a children's day celebration.

Frankfurt's Colourful Effects Festival Puts Kids' Visions First on Friday

A children’s culture festival called Colourful Effects will brighten up Frankfurt on Friday The festival will take place at Lehrplatz, located at 10 Lehrstraße. It blends art, culture, and community participation, giving children a platform to express how they see their surroundings. Their visions for the future of Frankfurt will be at the heart of the event.

*Colourful Effects* is part of the *Let’s Take to the Squares* initiative, led by the Frankfurt Office for Social Services. This project falls under the wider programme of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. Heike Richter, acting head of the Office for Social Services, will open the festival with a speech. Richter sees initiatives like this as essential for a strong democracy. By involving young voices, the project aims to create a more inclusive and engaged city.

The festival offers a chance for children to shape discussions about their environment. Through creative activities, they can present their ideas directly to the community. Organisers hope the event will inspire further collaboration between young residents and city planners.
