Yakutia Celebrates Unity Through 24-Language Literary Showcase on National Cultures Day

A multilingual excerpt from Alexei Kulakovsky’s Blessing of the Middle Generation was unveiled in Yakutia on December 5. The event celebrated the Republic’s National Cultures Day and showcased the work in 24 different languages. Organisers described the project as a symbol of unity in diversity. The presentation took place at the Language: The Soul of a Nation event, held at the House of Peoples’ Friendship named after A.E. Kulakovsky. Librarians, educators, and philologists gathered for the occasion, which was jointly organised by the Republic’s Ministry of External Relations and Ethnic Affairs and the House of Peoples’ Friendship.

Nurudin Nurudinov, chair of the Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Yakutia, had previously translated a passage from Kulakovsky’s work into his native Avar language. The translated excerpt was later shared by activists from the Youth Assembly. During the event, Nurudinov proposed a new joint project between the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Dagestan, titled *From Kulakovsky to Rasul Gamzatov*.

The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to promote linguistic and cultural exchange in Yakutia. The translated excerpt will now be accessible to speakers of 24 languages. The event also set the stage for future collaborations between the two republics.
