Unterkatz Village Celebrates Children's Day with Duck Races and Family Fun
Unterkatz Village Community Association is organising a Children’s Day festival on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The event will bring games, food, and family fun to the village square from 2 p.m. One of the main attractions will be the Great Duck Race along the Katza stream. The festival will feature classic activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy a bouncy castle, tin can tossing, and nail-driving contests. Sack races and face painting will also be on offer.
Food and drink stalls will serve homemade cakes, coffee, and hot chocolate. Grill specialties will be available for those wanting something heartier. The highlight of the day is the Great Duck Race. Participants can buy yellow rubber ducks for €3 each, with prizes awarded to the top five finishers. First place wins a €100 travel voucher, while second place receives a €50 voucher for Gaststätte Cassai in Meiningen. Third to fifth places will also get vouchers. The association has thanked volunteers for their hard work in preparing the event.
The Children’s Day festival will run from 2 p.m. at Unterkatz village square. Families can take part in games, enjoy food, and watch the duck race. Prizes and activities are designed to make the day memorable for all attendees.
