Nizhny Novgorod Region Launches Portal for Foster and Adoptive Parents
Russia's New Portal Simplifies Foster Care and Adoption for Families
A new online portal for foster and adoptive parents has gone live in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region.
Called Priyomnoye Roditelstvo (Foster Parenthood), the platform provides all necessary documents for adoption or guardianship, as well as details on regional and federal benefits and financial support available to families taking in children, according to the regional Ministry of Social Development and Family Policy.
The portal features an interactive map of the 57 "foster parent schools" operating across the region, along with information on upcoming training sessions. In 2025, 914 residents of Nizhny Novgorod completed courses at these schools.
As of early 2026, the region is home to over 7,700 orphans and children without parental care. Ninety-three percent are already being raised in foster families, while 590 children remain in state institutions.
