Free Arnsberg Event Explains Legal Guardianship for Families on May 9
As part of its "ARWED on Location" series, the association ARWED e.V. invites the public to an information event on "Legal Guardianship" at the Arnsberg Bürgerzentrum Bahnhof on Saturday, May 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is aimed at individuals affected by addiction, their families, and anyone interested in the topic. Admission is free, but registration is requested.
Addiction often brings significant personal, health, and financial challenges. Many of those affected struggle with everyday tasks—whether managing official paperwork, meeting deadlines, or fulfilling financial obligations. Family members, too, frequently face the dilemma of how to provide support without becoming overwhelmed themselves.
At the event, Ingrid Werthschulte, a representative from the Arnsberg Municipal Guardianship Office, will explain the options available through legal guardianship—how it can be established and terminated, and in which cases voluntary guardianship may be a viable solution. The discussion will also cover the rights of both those under guardianship and their families, as well as how these rights can be exercised. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in an open exchange.
The event is organized by ARWED e.V. (Working Group of Rhineland-Westphalian Parents' Circles for At-Risk and Addicted Individuals in North Rhine-Westphalia) in cooperation with the Arnsberg Family Self-Help Group.
