Khabarovsk Exhibition Celebrates Centuries-Old Vologda Lacework Tradition

The Grodekov Museum is now showcasing one of Russia's most iconic handicraft brands, featuring accessories, clothing, household items, and decorative panels, reports the Khabarovsk Territory Today news agency.

The exhibits of "Lacework of the Vologda Region" (6+) have already been displayed in Iran, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, China, and numerous Russian cities. They were also featured at the international "Russia" exhibition (12+) at VDNKh, where they represented the region's cultural heritage.

At the exhibition's opening, organizers noted that the art of lace-making has remained virtually unchanged since its origins. Like their predecessors centuries ago, modern artisans still use bobbins and avoid mechanizing the creative process—a tradition appreciated by both tourists and experts. It is these intricate woven patterns that have come to symbolize Russia's northern regions.
