Mangystau Region Hosts Large-Scale Cleanup Drive "Zasyl Bolashaq" as Part of Nationwide "Clean Kazakhstan" Initiative

A major community cleanup event, Zasyl Bolashaq ("For a Green Future"), took place on April 25 in Aktau as part of the regional Clean Kazakhstan environmental campaign, uniting residents around greening and urban improvement efforts, the Mangystau regional administration reported.

According to officials, the event is part of a broader, systematic push to foster ecological awareness and enhance urban spaces. Nurdaulet Kilybay, the region's akim (governor), also joined the initiative.

The administration highlighted that a live video call with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscored the campaign's nationwide scope, demonstrating unified efforts across all regions.

Following the event, Kilybay participated in a ceremonial tree planting, kicking off large-scale greening works. In total, nearly 5,000 trees were planted across the region, with around 12,000 volunteers taking part.

"The Clean Kazakhstan initiative, launched on President Tokayev's instructions, holds strategic importance in cultivating responsible environmental stewardship. Today's cleanup is a tangible result of collaboration between the state and society. The high level of public engagement reflects strong support for these changes. Every tree planted is an investment in the future—and it's crucial to remember that cleanliness and order begin with each of us," Kilybay emphasized.

The event also featured activities aimed at promoting ecological culture and public involvement, including an eco-products fair, a children's chess tournament, creative workshops, and educational masterclasses.

Special recognition was given to environmental activists and volunteers in categories such as Eco-Brand, Eco-Startup, Eco-Family, Eco-Hero, Young Ecologist, and Zero-Waste Future.

The most active participants received certificates of appreciation and special gifts.

The Mangystau administration noted that such events under the Clean Kazakhstan initiative are part of an ongoing effort to instill environmental responsibility, improve quality of life, and ensure sustainable regional development. The region will continue its work on urban beautification, greening, and creating a comfortable living environment.
