Dzerzhinsk residents unite to plant 90 shrubs for city beautification

A community greening initiative recently took place in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The event brought together residents, volunteers, and local officials to plant 90 decorative spirea shrubs near 'Duck Lake' Park. Organisers described it as a step towards beautifying the city and building stronger social connections. The initiative was part of Russia’s Year of National Unity. Attendees included Mayor Mikhail Klinkov, members of the Public Chamber, schoolchildren, and representatives from various ethnic communities. Zukhra Abdulina, deputy chair of the local Tatar autonomy, emphasised how the event encouraged intercultural dialogue.

Participants of all ages joined in planting the shrubs. The new spirea will bloom in spring and summer, adding colour to the existing pine grove. Klinkov remarked that such projects help unite residents and support the city’s growth. The newly planted shrubs will stand as a symbol of shared responsibility for Dzerzhinsk’s future. Organisers believe the greening effort improves both the city’s appearance and community spirit.

The event saw 90 spirea shrubs planted near 'Duck Lake' Park. These will bloom seasonally and enhance the area’s natural beauty. Officials and residents alike highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering unity and civic pride.
