Uttar Pradesh overhauls hiring with merit-based jobs under Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh has taken major steps to reform its recruitment system under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The state now ensures jobs are awarded purely on merit, removing influence from money, caste, or religion. Recent appointments highlight this shift as transparency and accountability become central to government hiring. On a recent occasion, the Chief Minister handed out appointment letters to 481 candidates. These new recruits will join the AYUSH, Vocational Education & Skill Development, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities departments. Among them, 202 positions were filled in the AYUSH sector alone, including professors, medical officers, and staff nurses.

The state’s recruitment drive is part of a broader push called *Mission Rozgar*. Over the last nine years, more than 9 lakh young people have secured government jobs. Authorities have also cracked down on corruption, ensuring leakages and unfair practices no longer affect the selection process. Beyond recruitment, Uttar Pradesh has seen rapid economic growth. Since 2017, its per capita income, annual budget, and overall economy have tripled. The MSME sector now leads the country in both the number of units and employment opportunities. Officials also see AYUSH as a key area for future growth, particularly in attracting health tourism and driving transformational changes.

The state’s focus on merit-based hiring and economic expansion has reshaped its job market. With over 9 lakh youths employed through Mission Rozgar, the government continues to prioritise fair recruitment. Meanwhile, sectors like MSME and AYUSH are expected to play a crucial role in Uttar Pradesh’s ongoing development.
