Rhenus unveils Poland's largest AutoStore system for e-commerce logistics

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions has launched a major automation project in Bolesławiec, Poland. The company is installing a 4,500-square-metre AutoStore system, designed to manage large-scale e-commerce inventories. Once complete, the facility will become one of the largest of its kind in the country. The new AutoStore system follows a 'goods-to-person' approach, optimising space and speeding up order processing. It will handle up to 1.8 million individual items, making it the second-largest facility within the Rhenus Group in Europe. The Bolesławiec site specialises in fulfilment for international e-commerce, primarily serving Western European markets.

Installation began in March, with hardware setup expected to finish by summer. The system will become fully operational in autumn. Rhenus is overseeing the entire process, tailoring the solution for an established e-commerce client.

This project aligns with Rhenus’s long-term automation strategy. By expanding automated warehousing, the company is increasing local capacity and adapting to growing online retail demand. The site will also play a stronger role in Rhenus’s wider European logistics network. The Bolesławiec facility will boost Rhenus’s ability to manage high-volume, high-diversity inventories. Its completion will reinforce the company’s position in automated warehousing across Europe. The system is set to go live in autumn, following a phased installation process.
