Milan Studio Revives Murano Glass with Bold Lido Collection

Milan-based design studio In Common With has launched a new collection of Venetian glassware and lighting. The Lido Series marks the brand’s first venture into traditional Murano techniques. Each piece blends antique craftsmanship with modern design. Founded in 2018, In Common With collaborates with specialist ateliers to produce lighting and home objects. For the Lido Series, the studio teamed up with Laguna~B, a Venetian workshop established in 1994 by Marie Brandolini. Today, her son Marcantonio leads the atelier, known for its expertise in glassmaking.

The Lido Series includes sconces, flush mounts, a chandelier named Cosmos, and two drinking glasses. Craftsmen used two rare Murano methods: goti de fornasa and murrine. These techniques create intricate patterns and textures within the glass.

Limited-edition pieces from the series will be sold online worldwide and at Quarters, In Common With’s retail and hospitality space in New York’s TriBeCa. The studio views Quarters as both a testing ground for new designs and a key part of its expansion plans. With this collection, the brand aims to broaden its reach, offering more accessible entry points into its growing ‘whole home catalogue’.

Venice remains a hub for contemporary glass design, with other firms like Barovier&Toso and 6:AM also reinterpreting traditional Venetian techniques. The Lido Series introduces In Common With’s first foray into Murano glass, combining heritage skills with modern aesthetics. Available through Quarters and online, the collection reflects the studio’s push for wider accessibility. The partnership with Laguna~B highlights a growing trend of designers reviving historic Venetian craftsmanship.
