Gardener's Simple Tricks Boost Raspberry Yields Tenfold and Double Currants
Gardener Mikhail Rudenko has created a simple yet effective way to boost fruit harvests. His techniques can increase raspberry yields tenfold and double currant production. The methods involve precise pruning and natural pollination aids that work across different plants. For raspberries, Rudenko’s approach starts on June 30 each year. He pinches off the top growth bud of young shoots when they reach 30 cm in height. By autumn, each bud at the base of the leaves develops into a fruit-bearing cluster for the next summer. These treated bushes then produce an exceptionally high harvest in their third year.
With currants, the process begins in spring and summer by pinching the top of shoots at 20 cm. When new branches grow to 10 cm the following spring, he repeats the trimming. This encourages buds at the base to form, leading to larger berries—1.5 times the usual size—and a doubled yield. The bushes also require no further pruning after treatment. Rudenko also tackles poor pollination, a common issue that causes currants to drop fruit sets. His solution involves spraying bushes with a honey-water mixture during flowering. The sweet liquid attracts bees, improving pollination and further increasing yields. The gardener’s methods are not limited to raspberries and currants. His techniques can be adapted to other plants, offering a practical way to enhance productivity in home and commercial gardens.
Rudenko’s pruning and pollination strategies deliver measurable results. Raspberries yield ten times more fruit, while currants produce berries 1.5 times larger with double the harvest. The methods also reduce maintenance, as treated bushes need no extra pruning once established.
