Casio and White Mountaineering Unveil Rugged Pro Trek PRW-B1000WM-1 Watch
Mostly known for its retro-inspired designs and affordability, Casio's watch lineage might seem to begin and end with its G-SHOCK sub-label. But lest we forget that its Pro Trek lineup has been doing serious work for over 30 years now.
The brand's de facto rugged king often gets overshadowed by the likes of the 2100 and the very similar GBA950 (both G-SHOCK models), but now it's getting hoisted on a pedestal by Tokyo-based trail-to-town staple White Mountaineering for arguably the best-looking Pro Trek we've ever seen.
Streetwear Meets the Summit
This is the second time Pro Trek and White Mountaineering have linked up, the first being a more entry-level collab on the PRJ-B001 Series. This time around, the partnership graduates to the high-spec PRW-B1000 platform - and the results are considerably more compelling. White Mountaineering founder Yosuke Aizawa, who honed his craft under Junya Watanabe at Comme des Garçons before launching his own label in 2006, has always operated from the belief that "the field in which we wear clothes is all outdoors." That ethos translates seamlessly to what's arguably one of the most purpose-built watch lines in Casio's catalog.
Pro Trek itself has been in the game since 1995, born from Japan's mountain-climbing boom with a mandate to deliver real-time navigation data - compass, altitude, pressure, temperature - to serious outdoor enthusiasts. Three decades of refinement later, it remains Casio's most dedicated outdoor tool watch, yet has always been somewhat of a streetwear cult-favorite. Pairing it with White Mountaineering, a brand that adds a sense of urban fashion to its outdoor gear, is a natural match if there ever were one.
All Black, All Business
In terms of its design, the watch's matte black bio-based resin case is offset by a black ion-plated stainless steel bezel etched with White Mountaineering's signature repeating triangle motif. This detail carries over to the dial itself in translucent printing.
White phosphorescent hour and minute hands pop hard against the dark dial, and the lone red seconds hand adds a dash of accenting. The ana-digi layout consists of two symmetrical analog subdials flanking a centered digital display at 6 o'clock. It channels the spirit of classic tool watches like the Seiko "Arnie" and Breitling Aerospace, but looks decidedly 2026.
The biggest visual upgrade, though, is the bracelet. The PRW-B1000's standard rubber strap has been swapped out for a solid, matte-black titanium H-link bracelet with a one-touch, slide-adjustable three-fold clasp - a first for this series.
Built for Everything
Under the hood, the Casio Cal. 5741 quartz movement is boosted by Tough Solar charging, Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping from six global stations, and Bluetooth syncing via the CASIO WATCHES app - three independent ways to keep this thing dialed in regardless of where you are. Casio's signature Triple Sensor handles a 16-direction compass with bearing memory, barometric pressure trending with a 20-hour graph and alarm alerts for sudden changes, altitude tracking up to 10,000m, and temperature readings down to 14°F.
On the durability side, the bio-based resin case is flame-retardant, the movement is cold-resistant to 14°F, and you've got 100m of water resistance, just like on the standard B1000. The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and screw-lock crown round out a spec sheet. The main difference between a Pro Trek and a G-SHOCK, of course, is the absence of shock-resistant case construction - a fair trade-off if a slimmer, more wearable profile is a priority for you.
