Ahmedabad Home Brings Hide-and-Seek to Life Through Playful Design
A unique family home in Ahmedabad has been designed around the childhood game of Santakukdi, or hide and seek. Architects Hardik and Geeta Pandit, who also own the house, shaped the 2,000 sq ft residence to encourage play and exploration across three generations.
The house stands out with its overlapping volumes and hidden corners, each space carefully crafted to spark curiosity. Windows frame views of the surrounding landscape, turning nature into a shifting backdrop for daily life. The design invites movement and discovery, much like the game that inspired it.
Inside, a warm palette of terracotta browns and soft, yellow-tinted whites creates a welcoming atmosphere. The layout ensures that every room connects to another in unexpected ways, reinforcing the playful theme. As both architects and residents, the Pandits have blended creativity with practicality, making the home a living experiment in design.
The result is a 2,000 sq ft space where architecture meets childhood nostalgia. The house’s concealed nooks and open sightlines cater to a multigenerational family while keeping the spirit of Santakukdi alive. Its thoughtful design ensures that every corner tells a story.
