Step Into the Past at Halle's Hanseatic Festival This Sunday

This Sunday, the Hanseatic Festival at Giebichenstein Bridge will transport visitors back in time. Families can explore medieval crafts, enjoy live entertainment, and take part in hands-on activities. The event promises a mix of history, fun, and local culture for all ages. The festival kicks off with storytime in the Fairy-Tale Tent, running from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Live music by Volkhard Brock follows, playing from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. At 2:00 PM, knightly combat demonstrations will bring medieval battles to life.

Children can dive into the new Hanseatic Children’s Games, featuring challenges like *The Hanging Disc with Hanseatic Crane*, a maritime lighthouse ring-toss, and a ship race. A historical pillory offers a lighthearted taste of medieval justice. Meanwhile, the Hallische Hanseschar stall will demonstrate the ancient craft of salt-making using traditional briquetage. Food stalls will serve grilled sausages, Kräppelchen, Flammkuchen, ice cream, and smoked fish. The Halle-Karlsruhe Friendship Association and the Halle Workshops for People with Disabilities will also present their work, adding to the festival’s community spirit.

The festival blends history, entertainment, and local traditions into a day of discovery. Visitors can try medieval games, watch live performances, and sample regional food. The event runs this Sunday at Giebichenstein Bridge, offering something for every member of the family.
