Salzgitter Lake's barbecue spots get a fresh upgrade for summer

Four barbecue spots along Salzgitter Lake have been upgraded this spring. The municipal services agency (SRB) carried out the work to improve facilities for residents. All areas remain free to use, with no need for booking. The renovations cover four locations: near the pirate-themed playground, on the eastern shore toward Café del Lago, at Reppner Bay, and along Humboldt Avenue by the Sepia Diving Club. Each site now includes picnic tables, benches, and a rotating steel grill.

Old concrete ash containers were removed and replaced with sturdy steel rings. The existing wooden seating was swapped for durable black locust furniture. Central concrete blocks still allow visitors to bring their own grills. The SRB has asked the public to look after the upgraded facilities. This will help ensure the barbecue areas stay in good condition for future use. All residents can continue to enjoy the spaces without registration or fees.
