School Garden Festival Marks Launch of "Little Vegetables, Big Impact" Project

On Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, the Grundschule Dölau (Querstraße 1) will kick off the "Little Vegetables, Big Impact" initiative by AOK Sachsen-Anhalt with a school garden festival. Katharina Brederlow, the city's executive councilor for education and social affairs, will welcome attendees on behalf of the mayor, joined by Henry Saage, state representative of AOK Sachsen-Anhalt.

The project centers on establishing or revitalizing school gardens as dynamic learning spaces, fostering children's connection to nature and healthy, naturally grown food. To mark the launch, AOK Sachsen-Anhalt will provide the school with starter supplies, including gardening tools, seeds, and plants. Participating schools will also receive €500 annually over the three-year project duration to purchase additional seeds and plants.

Students will be guided by an expert from the LandFrauenverband Sachsen-Anhalt e.V., who will support classes throughout the gardening season.
