Gifhorn: Senior Citizens' Day Brings Community Together on May 9
Gifhorn's Senior Citizens' Day returns with music, dance and charity on May 9
On May 9, around 20 associations, clubs, and organizations will take part in a vibrant and diverse event for Gifhorn's Senior Citizens' Day in the pedestrian zone, welcoming both residents and visitors.
From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the invitation of the Gifhorn Senior Citizens' Council, roughly 20 groups will introduce themselves—organizations dedicated to supporting seniors, fostering engagement, and encouraging intergenerational dialogue, as announced in a city press release.
A Host of Participants in Gifhorn's Pedestrian Zone
Active participants along Steinweg, between the CEKA Fountain and Hindenburgstraße, will include the Gifhorn District Branch of the German Red Cross (DRK), Rheuma Liga Niedersachsen e.V., the AWO Gifhorn District Association, service providers specializing in senior care, and many others. A grand raffle will offer attractive prizes, with proceeds benefiting the Gifhorn Children's Fund "No Child Goes Hungry" and the Gifhorn Hospice House.
The stage will feature a lively program by Gifhorn choirs, sports, and dance groups, blending movement and music to inspire all age groups to get active. Highlights include performances by the Gifhorn Shanty Choir, the traditional dance group of USK Gifhorn, the MTV Gifhorn cheerleaders, and the joint children's choir—founded in 2023 by the Gifhorn District Music School and St. Altfrid Parish.
