Clean Shore campaign kicks off seventh season with sports and sustainability
The seventh season of the Clean Shore campaign has begun along the shores of Shchitovaya Bay. Organised by the Russian Fishery Company (RFC), the event brought together volunteers, athletes, and local residents for a day of environmental action. This year’s activities combined coastal cleanup with sports competitions, drawing wide participation from the community. The initiative first launched in Vladivostok in 2020 under RFC’s leadership. Since then, it has grown into one of the region’s largest volunteer efforts, focusing on protecting natural ecosystems and promoting sustainable resource use. The campaign runs regular cleanups during the warm months, attracting RFC employees, their families, students, and other concerned citizens.
This year’s event saw volunteers divide into seven teams. While clearing the coastline, they also took part in themed sports challenges that tested agility, speed, and teamwork. Participants collected over 100 bags of waste, all of which were sent for recycling. Saveliy Karpukhin, Chairman of RFC’s Board of Directors, spoke to the gathered crowd. He highlighted the importance of giving back to nature and maintaining environmental responsibility. The day also featured improvised outdoor activities, adding energy and engagement to the campaign. Joining the effort were members of Dynamo basketball club and attendees of the Oh! Mega Taste pollock festival. Their involvement helped make the event lively and inclusive, reinforcing the campaign’s community spirit.
The Clean Shore campaign continues to expand its reach, blending environmental action with public participation. With over 100 bags of waste collected and recycled, the event demonstrated the impact of collective effort. RFC’s commitment to sustainability remains central, as the initiative prepares for more cleanups throughout the season.
