Vladivostok's bold greening campaign plants 30,000 trees in a single day

Mass Tree-Planting Events Held in Vladivostok as Part of Nationwide Cleanup and "Garden of Memory" Campaign

On Saturday, April 25, Vladivostok hosted several environmental initiatives as part of Russia's nationwide cleanup day and the international "Garden of Memory" campaign. Participants planted a total of 20,000 cedar pine seedlings and 5,000 apricot saplings across multiple locations, including Snegovaya Pad Park, Orlinoye Gnezdo Park, the recreational area near Lake Safonovo, Sergey Lazo Culture and Leisure Park, and a forested area adjacent to the Russian Ski Base on Russky Island, the city administration's press service reported.

"For several years now, we have been organizing these greening campaigns in partnership with the Primorye airbase. Each year, more residents and organizations join us," said Lilia Ostyukova, deputy director of the Green Vladivostok municipal enterprise. "This year alone, we plan to plant over 30,000 trees and shrubs, as well as 260,000 annual flowers."

Ostyukova noted that some of the planting material—cedar pines and apricots—had been pre-distributed to property management companies and other organizations based on their requests, allowing them to carry out independent planting efforts.

One of the most active groups was the "Ginseng Walking League", a public organization whose members worked in Snegovaya Pad Park under the guidance of Green Vladivostok specialists. Around 50 additional trees were planted in Sergey Lazo Park, where volunteers included Vladivostok's public observers, the adaptive rowing team "Sea Tigers," representatives of the "White Cane" school for the visually impaired, and other engaged residents. The park's landscape was enriched with cherry, willow, apple, apricot, spruce, lilac, and magnolia trees.

The planting efforts in Sergey Lazo Park were coordinated by the Lazo Municipal Institution.
