Mainz's WeinUfer Festival Closes with Record Crowds and Green Innovations

The WeinUfer wine festival in Mainz has drawn to a close after four days of celebrations. Around 65,000 visitors gathered along the Rhine between Theodor-Heuss Bridge and Kaisertor. Organisers called the event a success, highlighting new attractions and a focus on sustainability. This year’s festival ran from Ascension Day to Sunday. It featured 37 wine and beverage stalls alongside 23 food vendors. Popular activities included WeinUferTalks and the WeinUferWalk, which attracted large crowds.

New additions like Family Sunday and Pink Sunday brought fresh energy to the event. A reusable tableware system also made its debut, cutting waste by around 10,000 single-use items. Christian Barth of Barth Mobile Gastronomie praised the relaxed vibe and eco-friendly initiatives. Katja Mailahn and Marc André Glöckner, managing directors of Mainzplus GmbH, shared their satisfaction with the festival’s expanded formats and strong turnout.

The festival’s mix of wine, food, and entertainment drew thousands to the riverside. Its sustainability measures and new programming set a precedent for future editions. Organisers and vendors alike have already begun planning for next year’s event.
