"Clean Games" Eco-Quest to Take Place in Khabarovsk on May 16
Khabarovsk's 'Clean Games' turns eco-education into a citywide adventure
The Khabarovsk Krai Today news agency reports that the environmental movement first emerged in St. Petersburg in 2014 and has since gained popularity across many Russian cities. Khabarovsk hosted its first "Clean Games" in 2017.
The event is a team-based quest held within a designated area.
Organizers emphasize that the primary goal of the "Clean Games" is to foster ecological awareness among the city's youth, promote responsible attitudes toward nature, and draw public attention to environmental pollution.
Each team's mission is to collect waste from their assigned zone, sorting it into separate bags for plastic, metal, glass, mixed waste, tires, and bulky refuse. Participants must also locate ecological "artifacts" and solve environmental puzzles.
In 2026, each educational institution may field one to three teams. Every team must have a unique name and distinctive markers—such as badges, T-shirts, bandanas, or hats—to identify its members.
Registration is required on the official website. According to organizers, 52 participants have already signed up. Last year, over 120 people took part in the event, while this year at least 200 are expected to join.
As in previous years, eco-activists will gather at the Amur River embankment near the Dal'dizel plant.
