Kamchatka's Floral Display Unveiled at VDNKh
Moscow's Future in Bloom Festival Unveils Kamchatka's Volcanic Art Spectacle
A new exhibition, Industry Square, has opened at Moscow's VDNKh as part of the all-Russian festival The Future in Bloom, where regions showcase their unique identities in creative formats. The outdoor displays are divided into two sections: art installations symbolizing each region's distinct character and flowerbeds featuring plants native to their landscapes.
Kamchatka's exhibit highlights its defining symbols—volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean—while capturing the region's boundless energy.
The centerpiece is an art installation titled Volcanoes, depicting Kamchatka's iconic "stone torches." The volcanic forms are crafted from transparent plastic panels, creating a striking 3D effect. The photographs used in the installation were taken by renowned Kamchatka-based photographers. Beneath the volcanoes, the floral arrangement evokes the volcanic tundra, contrasting with the black sand of Khalaktyrsky Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Blue lobelia flowers represent the sea, cotoneaster shrubs symbolize the high-altitude tundra, and the red leaves of Coleus blumei mimic tongues of lava.
The festival will run through July 8 on the open grounds of VDNKh.
