Heitersheim's €60K street redesign adds greenery and parking upgrades
Heitersheim is set to transform the upper section of Johanniterstraße with a fresh redesign. The project will add more green spaces and improve parking facilities for both residents and visitors. Funding for the work has already been secured through a grant from KfW Bank. The town council plans to vote on awarding the construction contract on May 12, 2026. The redesign includes new tree islands, extra street trees, and repaved surfaces. Additional parking bays with tree pits will also be created to boost greenery.
Initial cost estimates for the project stood at around €48,000. However, the total budget has since increased to €60,000. A grant of roughly €48,000, covering about 80% of eligible expenses, was approved under KfW Bank’s 'Natural Climate Protection in Municipalities' programme.
KW Garten- und Landschaftsbau, a company based in Ballrechten-Dottingen, submitted the lowest bid for the contract at approximately €45,000. The redesign aims to make the area more attractive while supporting climate protection efforts. The project will move forward once the council awards the contract. With most of the funding already in place, construction is expected to enhance the street’s appearance and functionality. The improvements will benefit both the local community and the environment.
