Citizen Initiative "Halle's Green North" Invites Residents to Second Spring Hike

The citizen initiative Halle's Green North warmly invites residents of the Tornau, Mötzlich, Seeben, and Trotha districts—as well as all interested locals—to its 2nd Spring Hike. The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM. Participants will meet at the radio tower in Kirschallee, from where the route leads to the historic Franzosenstein (Frenchman's Stone).

The hike centers on experiencing spring in nature together, along with the ceremonial unveiling of the second phase of the Franzosenstein Trail project. Over recent weeks, the informational panels along the path—which provide insights into the area's history, wildlife, and plant life—have been meticulously restored and will be officially reinstalled on the day. The initiative, which has long advocated for preserving Halle's northern greenfields, aims to highlight the area's vital role in climate protection and quality of life in the city.

Under the motto "Walk – Enjoy – Discuss," the hike also serves as an informal platform for dialogue among citizens, politicians, and local authorities. Alongside residents, prominent guests are expected to attend: Mayor Dr. Alexander Vogt has confirmed his participation, and Minister-President Sven Schulze has been invited. At the journey's end, participants will be rewarded with coffee and homemade cake. The event is open to families, friends, and neighbors—who are welcome to bring their pets along.

Come join in celebrating nature, community, and the future of Halle's green spaces!
