Douglas County's Master Gardener Plant Sale Returns May 16 with Local Favorites

The Douglas County Master Gardener Plant Sale returns on Saturday, May 16, 2026, offering a wide selection of locally grown plants. Held at the Farmers Market in Big Ole Park, Alexandria, the event invites gardeners of all skill levels to explore, shop, and connect with the community. The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., featuring everything from Minnesota native plants to perennials, annuals, and herbs. Houseplants and pollinator garden starter packs will also be available, all sustainably grown to suit Douglas County’s climate.

Shoppers can pay with cash or check only. For those seeking advice, Master Gardener volunteers will staff the Ask a Master Gardener Booth, ready to answer questions and share tips. The event aims to be a welcoming space for both beginners and experienced gardeners alike.

Attendees will leave with plants suited to the local environment, along with expert guidance if needed. The sale strengthens ties within the gardening community while promoting sustainable, regionally adapted gardening practices.
