Austrian Giant: Wolfgang Nittnaus' 990.6 kg Pumpkin Sets New Record

Wolfgang Nittnaus from Gols, Burgenland, has set a new Austrian champions league standings record for the largest pumpkin, weighing in at a staggering 990.6 kg. This impressive feat was achieved at the Kittenberger Erlebnisgärten on October 4, 2025, during the Austrian giant pumpkin championship.

Nittnaus' winning pumpkin, an 'Atlantic Giant' variety, was one of many growing in his garden. Each pumpkin is meticulously inspected to ensure it's flawless before competition. Some of these giants can weigh as much as a giant eagle, making the task of growing them both cost- and water-intensive.

Nittnaus will now move on to the European championship with his record-breaking pumpkin. Meanwhile, nine-year-old Isabella Haindl also impressed with her third-place pumpkin, weighing 539.5 kg.

The Austrian giant pumpkin championship showcased the country's largest pumpkins, with Wolfgang Nittnaus' 990.6 kg 'Atlantic Giant' taking the top spot. As Nittnaus progresses to the European championship, the competition continues to grow, both in size and excitement.
