Youths draw significant fish from the community reservoir
The annual Wolkow Fishing Camp is set to take place during the summer holidays, thanks to the support of the community, local organizations, and generous sponsors. This yearly event, which has become a cherished tradition, is an opportunity for kids to enjoy the outdoors, learn about fishing, and develop a respect for the environment.
The event is made possible through the cooperation of various community members and organizations, including the Wildberg community, the Village Pond Interest Group, and the mayor. Key sponsors, Ingo Gille and Angeljoe from Neubrandenburg, have also shown their commitment to the camp by providing essential funding.
Jens Witte, the event organizer, expresses his gratitude for the support received. He emphasises the importance of teaching kids to care for lakes and ponds, as they compete with entertainment systems like PlayStation and Xbox for their attention. Witte believes that the Wolkow Fishing Camp provides a unique opportunity to engage children in a fun and educational way, while also promoting conservation and responsible fishing practices.
The camp offers a chance for kids to catch a variety of fish, such as pike or perch, from the pond in Wolkow. Participants are required to bring their own tent and gear, but food and small rewards are provided thanks to the sponsorship. Around 15 children and young people are participating in the camp for free this year.
Day visitors are always welcome at the camp, and Witte explains that the Wolkow Fishing Camp is not just about wild fishing, but also about passing on knowledge, water care, gear knowledge, and conservation. The bite frequency is particularly high in Wolkow's village pond, according to Witte, making it an ideal location for the camp.
Both the local fishing club from Kastorf and the organisers of the camp believe attracting new members is crucial. They hope that the Wolkow Fishing Camp will not only provide a fun and educational experience for the participants, but also inspire a new generation of anglers and conservationists.
Ingo Gille and Angeljoe, the generous sponsors from Neubrandenburg, are proud to support the Wolkow Fishing Camp. They believe that by supporting events like this, they are helping to foster a love for the outdoors and a respect for the environment in the next generation.
With the support of the community, sponsors, and local organizations, the Wolkow Fishing Camp continues to thrive, providing a valuable opportunity for kids to learn about fishing, conservation, and the importance of caring for our waterways.
The organizers of the Wolkow Fishing Camp, including Jens Witte and the Wildberg community, align their efforts with the home-and-garden magazine's mission to encourage eco-friendly practices and sustainable lifestyles by imparting water care and conservation knowledge to the participants. Ingo Gille and Angeljoe, the sponsors from Neubrandenburg, further support this initiative by promoting a lifestyle that respects and cares for the environment, with their funding helping to provide a unique home-and-garden setting for the Wolkow Fishing Camp participants.
