Ryans Cleaning Prepares for Ploughing Championships
Ryans Cleaning, a family-owned company based in Thurles, is gearing up for one of its final summer season events – the Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co Offaly. The company, known for its cleaning contracts at major events near me for the last 40 years, will have 80 people working at the championships this week.
For many of Ryans Cleaning's part-time staff, the summer season months are a busy time. Students from various universities avail of the flexible hours, with many coming from eastern Europe. This year, Vasile Nastasa and George Tanase, who have been working with Ryans Cleaning for 12 years, are part of the team. They recently concluded work at the Electric Picnic and are now at the Ploughing Championships.
The Ploughing Championships is a more straightforward job compared to the Electric Picnic, where Ryans Cleaning had 300 staff working shifts for 24 hours. At the Ploughing Championships, the staff will pick up litter, empty bins, and look after public and plastic toilets.
Ryans Cleaning's portfolio in the UK includes British Summer Time in London's Hyde Park, Latitude, Reading, Leeds, and Creamfields Music Festivals. The workers arrive in the UK in May and leave at the end of summer season. After the season, they return to their families in Romania for the winter. Between 19 and 20 Romanians work for Ryans Cleaning during the summer season months.
In addition to outdoor events near me, the company's clients include indoor venues such as Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and 3Arena, and sporting events like Croke Park, Punchestown, Limerick, Leopardstown, Galway, The Curragh, Tipperary, and Kilbeggan racecourses.
