Wolfsburg’s Kleist Park to Become a €5.1M ‘Green Oasis’ by 2028
Wolfsburg's Kleist Park, a central green space connecting key areas like the artisan quarter, Hallenbad cultural center, Kaufhof department store, and Porschestraße, is set for a major transformation. The city administration's €5.1 million project aims to turn it into a 'Green Oasis' to revitalize the city center.
The eastern entrance from Porschestraße and the Kaufhof direction will be reorganized to create a new, efficient path network. This will better connect the park's social and cultural offerings, enhancing its appeal as a central green space.
The redesign includes partial completion by mid-2028, with the parking area near the Youth Center being redesigned for climate resilience and accessibility. The Youth Center itself, or Haus der Jugend, will also benefit from improved flood mitigation measures, achieved by removing sealed surfaces to create more permeable areas.
The Hallenbad cultural center's beer garden will be refreshed and integrated more into the park, making it a hub for external events. Improved lighting throughout the park will enhance safety for visitors.
Nearly €2 million of the project's cost is eligible for funding. However, there is no publicly available information on which architect or planning society designed the 'Green Oasis City Center – Kleist Park' project.
With a completion date set for mid-2028, the Kleist Park redesign promises to create a safer, more accessible, and resilient green space at the heart of Wolfsburg. The project, with its estimated €5.1 million budget, is expected to revitalize the city center and enhance its cultural offerings.
