Wiesbaden restores cemetery water access by late March

Wiesbaden's 21 cemeteries will soon have full water access again. The city's Parks and Gardens Department has been working through the winter to inspect and upgrade water systems. Visitors will be able to water grave plants as usual by the end of March.

The winter pause allowed staff to check pipes, troughs and taps for leaks or damage. Starting Monday, March 23, teams began gradually reopening water points across all cemeteries. Each system was tested to ensure reliable flow before being returned to service.

By Friday, March 27, all water access will be restored. The department has set a final deadline of Friday, March 28 for every trough and tap to be fully operational. Minor delays may still occur in the first few days as adjustments are made. Watering grave plants is a key part of cemetery visits, particularly in spring when flowers and shrubs bloom. The city aims to provide a dependable supply for visitors who tend to graves and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The upgrades will help maintain the cemeteries as spaces for reflection and nature. With water systems back in service, visitors can care for grave plants without interruption. The work ensures that Wiesbaden's cemeteries remain functional and welcoming for the community.
