Spring Start in the Citizen and Miniature Park Before Easter - Wernigerode's Miniature Park Celebrates 20 Years with New Attractions and Record Visits

Wernigerode's Citizen and Miniature Park is marking a special milestone this year. The site, which first opened during the 2006 State Garden Show, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Visitors can expect new attractions, seasonal events, and a major celebration in September as the park prepares for its busiest season yet.

The park will welcome guests from Good Friday (April 3) for a 211-day season. Spread across 17 hectares, it features themed gardens and the 'Little Harz' Miniature Park, home to 70 detailed models. One of the biggest additions this year is a miniature replica of Derenburg's historic glassworks, set to open in late summer.

Before the winter break, the park will host festivals, concerts, and exhibitions. A highlight comes on September 19 with a large-scale event focused on 'ideas, people, and memories'. October's autumn break will also bring artistic light installations, adding a new dimension to evening visits. Visitor numbers have steadily climbed, with 173,721 people exploring the park in 2025—an increase from around 167,000 the previous year. Since its 2009 opening, the attraction has drawn roughly 2.5 million guests in total.

The anniversary season runs until the park's winter closure. New exhibits, seasonal events, and rising visitor numbers reflect its growing popularity. Organisers aim to build on this success with fresh attractions and celebrations throughout the year.
