Welsh-Language Animation 'Egin Bach' Premieres October 21
A new Welsh-language animation series, Egin Bach, is set to premiere on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer on October 21, 2025. The series, created by Cardiff-based studio Bumpybox and supported by the Welsh Government, consists of 26 five-minute episodes that follow the adventures of six tiny explorers in a small back garden.
Egin Bach aims to inspire children to appreciate the natural world close to home. Each episode focuses on a different aspect of nature, fostering curiosity and creativity in young viewers. Sioned Geraint, S4C's Content Commissioner for Children and Learners, praised the series for its potential to spark imagination in young minds.
The series is produced by Bumpybox, with Sam Wright at the helm as producer and director. Wright expressed excitement for the series' premiere and gratitude for the support from S4C. Joedi Langley, interim Head of Creative Wales, also highlighted Bumpybox's previous work and expressed support for Egin Bach's development. The Welsh Government, via Creative Wales and S4C's Commercial Content Fund, has invested in the series through the Welsh Animation Fund. Claire Urquhart, Head of S4C's Commercial Content Fund, noted that this investment will allow Bumpybox to export the animation globally.
Egin Bach premieres on October 21, 2025, offering children a unique opportunity to explore nature and spark their imagination. The series is a testament to the Welsh Government's commitment to supporting creative industries and promoting Welsh language content.
