Maui Home Transformed: A Haven of Technology and Community

In the heart of Maui, Hawaii, Tianna Krause and her husband, Keoni, have turned a six-acre property into a haven of comfort, technology, and community. The Krause family purchased the land in August 2020, and since then, they have built not just a home, but a collection of spaces that cater to various needs and gatherings.

The main house, where the Krauses moved in about a year ago, serves as the family's primary residence. It features a spacious main floor living room, boasting a 98-inch Sony TV and Bowers & Wilkins in-ceiling speakers controlled via wall-mounted URC TKP-9600 touchpanels. For more intimate gatherings, the family room downstairs offers two TVs, one equipped with a karaoke setup, and Bowers & Wilkins in-ceiling speakers.

But the Krause home's pièce de résistance is the home theater, a separate, soundproofed room designed to provide an immersive cinematic experience. The room houses a Sony 98-inch TV, Marantz Cinema 30 AV receiver (to be upgraded to Marantz AV20 and AMP20 separates), Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, and JL Audio SYS208 in-wall subwoofers.

The home's technology was expertly designed and installed by Derek Pace and the team at Certified Sounds, who were brought on board from the project's inception. Pace, who rediscovered his passion for home audio in 2018, has steered his company in that direction, making the Krause home the biggest project Certified Sound has ever undertaken.

The home also features a Lutron RA-3 system for lighting control throughout, and PowerShades motorized shades in pockets that are hidden when raised. The whole-home audio system includes seven zones of distributed audio powered by the URC HDA-8100 and Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series in-ceiling speakers.

The Krause family's commitment to their community was evident during the Maui wildfires in August 2023, when the construction on their main home was delayed. Despite this setback, they opened their home to those who had lost theirs and assisted with the transport of supplies into Lahaina. Keoni and his business partner, Rey Cotto, have since started a contracting business to help with the rebuilding of Lahaina.

The Krause home is more than just a personal space; it is a place of gathering, celebrations, and community support. It is a testament to the power of resilience, innovation, and the spirit of aloha.
