Ever the waterfall enthusiast, Benoit Lalonde, a kick-ass author, considers weekend rains as a boon rather than a bummer. "Gimme that rainy weather! With the forecast of heavy rains, I'm ready to hit those waterfalls 'cause they're gonna be roaring," he marvels.
You guessed it—the man's penned two books on waterfalls in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. And with eleven shady weekends in a row marred by rain across the Maritimes, those waterfalls are turning into show-stoppers.
"Yeah, man, the Gairlock Falls in Middle River, Cape Breton, has been all up in the social media feeds," Lalonde shared. Beyond a doubt, Egypt Falls (near Margaree) has always been a crowd pleaser, but now, thanks to stunning posts and pics on social media, it's drawing even more visitors.

Tourists simply dig Lalonde's books on Cape Breton waterfalls.
"Man, I'm hearing a lot of folks are carrying the Waterfalls of Cape Breton book," says Dan Coffin, who heads tourism and recreation for Victoria County.
Cape Breton's main tourism marketing organization, Destination Cape Breton, has been focusing on spring waterfalls to generate buzz during quieter seasons. By following the strategy employed in Tofino, BC, they're stressing the area's wild weather variations as a key selling point.
"The folks coming here to check out the waterfalls? They're ready to roam, rain or shine, and it's helping boost tour operators' cash flow," Coffin revealed.
