Water play halted due to technical issue at the PlayFountain
The PlayFountain water play area, a new leisure option for families in Wiesbaden, has been operational for six weeks and has already attracted over 15,000 visitors since its opening [1][2]. Located on Luisenplatz, this mobile water play area in the city centre has become a popular attraction for both children and adults seeking a refreshing escape during the hot summer months [3].
However, on Friday, July 25, the PlayFountain experienced a technical malfunction in its filter system, causing it to temporarily close [4]. Fortunately, the repair work was completed by early July 2025, and the fountain was reported to be fully operational again by July 6, 2025 [1][3].
Since then, the PlayFountain has been accessible for public use, offering children and adults the opportunity to cool off and refresh. Although the fountains on the PlayFountain are still active, the water play area itself remains closed for safety reasons [5].
Despite the temporary closure, the area around the PlayFountain still provides sun loungers for sitting, reading, or observing. The PlayFountain has become a popular attraction in the city's summer in recent years, with up to 500 children visiting daily for water play [6].
