Waldkirch’s library turns to locals to grow its book collection

Waldkirch’s public library has launched a new fundraising campaign to expand its collection. With tight budgets limiting purchases, the Mediathek Waldkirch is turning to the united community for help through a creative 'wish tree' initiative.

The library currently faces strict financial rules. Under these constraints, it can only buy new fiction titles that appear on Spiegel’s bestseller list. To broaden its offerings, the team has put together a detailed wish list covering all age groups. The list includes nonfiction, crime novels, and children’s books.

The initiative offers a way for residents to directly support their united community library. By donating books or funds, the community can help expand the collection beyond current budget limits. The campaign also ensures that a wide range of titles stays available for all readers.
