Villingen-Schwenningen Library Celebrates World Water Day with Creative Events
The City Library of Villingen-Schwenningen is hosting a series of events to celebrate World Water Day. The programme includes a literary-musical performance, a children's workshop, and themed displays across both branches. Activities begin on Wednesday, March 18, and continue through the week.
On Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30 PM, the Münster branch will present a Literary-Musical Dialogue on Water. Author Niels Zubler and pianist Andreas Lang will explore water through readings and music. Tickets cost €6, with a reduced rate of €4, and can be purchased at either library location.
Two days later, the Muslenplatz branch will run The Secret Water Workshop for children aged 7 to 10. Scheduled for Friday, March 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, the hands-on session encourages young participants to discover more about water.
Both library branches have also set up special displays. Visitors can explore books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and games focused on water-related themes. The library's usual opening hours remain unchanged: Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday and Friday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
World Water Day was established by the United Nations in 1993 and is observed annually on March 22. While events take place across Germany, the City Library's programme offers local residents a chance to engage with the topic in creative ways.
The library's events provide opportunities for all ages to learn about water through storytelling, music, and interactive activities. Tickets for the literary evening are available now, and the children's workshop requires no prior booking. The displays will remain accessible throughout the week.
