Vantage Data Centers Lands $1.6B to Expand Asia-Pacific Hyperscale Hubs

Vantage Data Centers has secured a $1.6 billion equity investment for its Asia-Pacific operations, led by GIC and ADIA, to support its expansion in the region. One key project is the newly acquired JHB1 campus in Johor, Malaysia, a major hyperscale data centre site with over 300MW of planned IT capacity.

The investment enables Vantage to take full ownership of the JHB1 campus, previously developed by Yondr Group. Spanning nearly 73 acres, the site will eventually host three data centres, delivering a combined 300MW of IT capacity. This marks Vantage’s third campus in Malaysia and strengthens its presence in the Asia-Pacific market.

The Johor facility is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating direct-to-chip liquid cooling and on track to meet EDGE certification standards for energy efficiency. Strategically located, JHB1 offers direct connectivity to key markets such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. With this acquisition, Vantage’s regional platform now totals 1GW of operational and planned IT capacity, covering Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, reinforcing the company’s position in high-demand digital infrastructure markets.

The $1.6 billion investment accelerates Vantage’s growth in Asia-Pacific, with JHB1 set to become a major hyperscale hub. The campus’s advanced cooling systems and strategic location aim to meet rising demand for data services. Once fully developed, the site will add significant capacity to Vantage’s expanding network in the region.
