Give a Hand, Be a Good Samaritan! Drop-off Clothes for Homeless Folks in Berlin
Urgent call for garment donations to help the homeless population - Urgent Call for Clothing Donations for Homeless Individuals
Need a spring clean? Don't chuck out those good-as-new trousers, T-shirts, or sweaters just yet! If you're living in or around Berlin, you can make a real difference by donating your pre-loved items to homeless individuals in need. The Berlin Transport Authority (BVG), alongside Johanniter and City Mission, are organizing a summer collection campaign at U-Bahnhof Innsbrucker Platz. Unfortunately, their clothing banks are running dangerously low.
In the wide-open world of homelessness, having access to clean, well-maintained clothing is a blessing, said Knut Güntzel, head of a Johanniter emergency shelter in Kreuzberg. These folks don't have the luxury of washing their clothes regularly, and living on the streets can be harsh on clothing, wearing them out rapidly.
Right now, they're in desperate need of men's clothing, but hygiene items, thin jackets, fresh undies, and socks will also be delightfully received. Swing by with your donations on Monday, between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., and Tuesday, between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye out for more donation opportunities throughout the week, as the campaign continues across various U-Bahn stations.
