Urban Eco-Race in Nizhny Tagil City
In the spirit of environmental awareness and cleanliness, the third annual 'Defenders of the Earth' eco-run is taking place this September, covering two cities – Lower Tagil and Krasnoturyinsk. Organised by the company 'Rifei', this year's eco-run is five times larger than previous years, attracting a diverse range of participants including teachers, students, and volunteers from various organisations. The eco-run kicked off on September 18 at Murinsky Ponds in Lower Tagil. Participants were tasked with organised waste sorting, proper tire disposal, and even had the opportunity to earn extra points for separately collected plastic waste. A mixed waste hopper was installed during the event, and the collected waste was sent to the Tagil Waste Sorting Complex. Artem Tkachenko, the general director of 'Rifei', expressed his excitement about the event, stating that this is the third time the eco-run has been held. He emphasised the importance of such events in promoting environmental responsibility and fostering a cleaner, greener community. In Krasnoturyinsk, the eco-run was organised by local environmental groups and community volunteers. Teams from sports and educational schools, the Museum of Fine Arts, Uralvagonzavod, Rosprirodnadzor, 'Galamart', and the regional operator participated in the cleanup. The Eko-Laufaktion in Krasnoturyinsk took place on September 27, with the participation of teachers and students. New recycling bins, purchased by the regional operator for the eco-run, have been installed in Lower Tagil in preparation for future clean-up events. The tires collected from the forest park were taken care of by the Lower Tagil city administration's management.
